The Gelato Museum was inaugurated in September 2012. Today it is recognized as a center of cultural excellence focused on gelato history, culture, and technology, paying particular attention to the skilled innovators who have shaped the trade over the years.
The museum offers visitors an interactive tour of gelato history, illustrating how it has evolved through the centuries, the changes in production technology, and how and where people enjoy it.
Covering 1000 square meters, visitors can see 20 original machines, multimedia presentations, thousands of historical images and documents, fascinating tools, and videos of interviews. It is located within Carpigiani’s primary offices in Bologna, an industrial space repurposed into a modern structure focused on the history of gelato through the ages.
